Counseling

Mrs. Lowry has been a high school educator for 23 years. She began her career in Newton County as a Family and Consumer Science teacher and later as a School Counselor, and for the last two years she has been honored to serve the students and families of the Greene County School System.

Mrs. Lowry earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science with a minor in Secondary Education from Berry College and her master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama.

She is passionate about helping adolescents grow, discover their strengths, and find their purpose. Mrs. Lowry enjoys learning from her students and her counseling philosophy is inspired by the motto, “Be who you needed when you were younger.” With a strong belief in student advocacy, student equity, and the importance of student voice, she works to create spaces where all students feel loved, supported and respected. She is committed to contributing to positive systemic change and removing barriers so that students can have the opportunity to thrive.

Mrs. Lowry lives in Newton County with her husband and son. She loves spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, and enjoying nature.

Mrs. Sedlacek has been a school counselor for 25 years. She began her career in her hometown of Savannah, GA. For the last 24 years, Mrs. Sedlacek served the students and families of Newton County. 

Mrs. Sedlacek earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University, now the Savannah campus of Georgia Southern University. She earned her master's degree in school counseling from Georgia Southern University. She is excited to begin this new chapter in Greene County and to work alongside such a dedicated team of educators and families.

Mrs. Sedlacek believes that every student deserves to feel valued, heard, and supported. She strives to empower students to grow in confidence, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential. Whether assisting students with academic planning, college and career readiness, or personal challenges, Mrs. Sedlacek is committed to supporting students throughout their high school journey.  As she likes to say "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" - a philosophy that guides her work. 

Mrs. Sedlacek lives in Walton County with her husband and two spoiled rescue dogs. She enjoys spending time with family, yoga, reading, trying new recipes, and visiting the beach.
