Meet Mrs. Erin Lowry, GCHS Counselor

Mrs. Lowry has been a high school educator for 23 years. She began her career in Newton County as a Family and Consumer Science teacher and later as a School Counselor, and for the last two years she has been honored to serve the students and families of the Greene County School System.

Mrs. Lowry earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science with a minor in Secondary Education from Berry College and her master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama.

She is passionate about helping adolescents grow, discover their strengths, and find their purpose. Mrs. Lowry enjoys learning from her students and her counseling philosophy is inspired by the motto, “Be who you needed when you were younger.” With a strong belief in student advocacy, student equity, and the importance of student voice, she works to create spaces where all students feel loved, supported and respected. She is committed to contributing to positive systemic change and removing barriers so that students can have the opportunity to thrive.

Mrs. Lowry lives in Newton County with her husband and son. She loves spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, and enjoying nature.
